STATE ALIGNED BUSINESS AWARDS FOR INDIVIDUALS

1. Outstanding Young Employee (Age 18-35) 

The Outstanding Young Employee* award recognises an inspirational young employee aged between 18-35 years. To enter into this award the individual must have been employed by their current employer for a minimum of 18 months at the time of entry. * This category does not proceed to the State Awards

 

2. Outstanding Young Entrepreneur (Age 18-35) 

The Outstanding Young Entrepreneur award recognises an inspirational young person aged between 18-35 years who, through their own commitment and passion, owns or part owns a successful business. This award recognises young business people who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, strategic direction and innovative ideas whilst providing inspiration to a new generation of upcoming young business people.

 

3. Outstanding Business Leader

The Outstanding Business Leader award recognises the positive contribution made to business by business people and professionals. The award recognises those who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, strategic business direction and innovative ideas, whilst providing inspiration to a new generation of upcoming business leaders. Individuals entering into this category can be self-employed or employed by a business.

4. Excellence in Social Enterprise 

The Excellence in Social Enterprise Award is open to organisations that have been established or exist to further a social purpose that benefits the community. These organisations have commercial activities, products or services (other than government grants and donations) that provide an income stream to fund social purpose activities.

 

5. Excellence in Innovation

The Excellence in Innovation award recognises businesses that have made significant contributions to their industry through the introduction or improvement of an idea, method, technology, process or application.

 

6. Excellence in Sustainability

The Excellence in Sustainability award recognises businesses that are working to reduce the impact of their operations on the environment and/or provide products and services that have positive environmental outcomes.

 

7. Excellence in Small Business (< 20 employees)

The Excellence in Small Business award recognises a business, employing less than 20 that has attained significant growth and is able to demonstrate the specific strategies and processes implemented to achieve sustainable growth in the previous 24 months.

 

8. Excellence in Business

The Excellence in Business award recognises a business that has attained significant growth and is able to demonstrate the specific strategies and processes implemented to achieve sustainable growth over the previous 24 months.

 

9. Outstanding Employer of Choice

The Outstanding Employer of Choice award recognises organisations that put in place strategies and initiatives to create stimulating and supportive workplace environments for their employees. These strategies or initiatives must have a positive impact on both employees and the organisation as a whole.

 

10. Start Up Superstar
The StartUp Superstar category recognises a business that has been operating for less than two years that delivers a product/service/idea/invention with credible potential. This award recognises early-stage start ups that have a solid chance of market success, and strongly displays the entrepreneurial spirit.

 

11. Excellence in Workplace Inclusion

The Excellence in Workplace Inclusion award recognises businesses that address the needs of a diverse community, including seniors, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and people with disability. An inclusive business facilitates the needs of all its employees and customers.

Regional Award Categories

12. Retail Business
This Award will be presented to the business judged as the best retailer in the region. This could be as a shop front, online retailer, marketer or door to door.

 

13. Hospitality

This Award will be presented to the business that provides the best hospitality service in the region. eg restaurants, cafes, accommodation providers.

 

14. Business Services

e.g. Real Estate, Finance, B2B, Legal, printers, wholesalers, Graphic/Web Designers
This Award will be presented to the business judged as the best in providing excellent business services within their chosen field.

 

15. Customer Service

This Award will be presented to the business judged as the best in its exhibition of commitment to, and the practice of, customer service. 

 

16. Home Based Business

This Award will be presented to the business that demonstrates purpose, excellence and innovation in their home-based business ie knowledge based services, graphic designers, coaches, training organisation, virtual administration etc

 

17. Creative Industries

This Award will be presented to the business that demonstrates excellence and innovation in the creative industries. Eg design, film production, publishing or visual/performing arts etc

 

18. Employee Inclusion Award

This award will be presented to the business that has employed a person with a disability for at least a year at more than 15 hours per week and has best shown that the employee has been integrated into the workforce equally with co-workers.

 

19. Accommodation Provider

This Award will be presented to a business who can demonstrate their ability to deliver both excellence in accommodation and a ‘best in breed’ boutique accommodation experience within our World Heritage Listed Area by relaying what is on offer and demonstrating guests experience of their product and services.

 

20. People’s Choice Award sponsored

This Award will be presented to the business which receives the most nominations from the local community. Nominations/votes may be made online at BlueMountainsAustralia.com/vote.

 

21. The Harry Hammon Regional Business of the Year Award

This Award will be presented to the business which is deemed the overall “Business of the Year”, selected by the judges, from the winners of Category Awards apart from Individual Awards and the People’s choice Award.
