Chris Cannell
Most of you may remember me from my days of managing Hotel Blue on behalf of my family, which was sold in May 2017. After 7 years I had become too fond of the Blue Mountains and my interest and development of the most active live music venue in the Blue Mountains, doing between 5 and 9 events every week, taking part in every regional festival I could get my hands on.
Late last year, I decided that as music had become so much a part of my life that I wanted to keep doing it after Hotel Blue was sold. This is when 'Music in the Mountains' was born as I was determined to keep coordinating live music. Fast forward to September 2017 and now I am bringing some of the hottest names in music through the Mountains and attempting to work with local artists as well.
While at Hotel Blue I was also an active member of the Not for Profit community organisation, the Blue Mountains Accommodation & Tourism Association (BMATA). In the roles of Secretary (2 yrs), Vice-President (1yr), and serving on the Management Committee since 2012 I co-ordinated The Roaring 20s Festival, contributed to the Draft Local Environment Plan & Destination Management Plan, represented regional tourism at forums, expos and roundtables, and have met with all levels of government, planning and development organisations.
I offer the BMRBC Board and membership my experience in business and the skills I learnt as a Board Director representing tourism businesses within the Blue Mountains. As a Young Entrepreneur, committed to the Blue Mountains, I offer you my enthusiasm, experience, energy and commitment to building a vibrant and engaged small business community. I am also interested in furthering the relationship between the Regional Business Chamber and BMATA.
